RTX Platform as a Traffic Source


RTX Platform is a source of high-quality push, native and full-page advertising. They have a global reach and work in many verticals. Tracking traffic coming from them with Voluum is easy, just follow this guide.

Before You Start

To create a working setup, you need to have a couple of things ready. Make sure you have them before digging into this guide.

  • An active Voluum account.
  • An active RTX Platform account with some funds added.
  • An offer, and optionally, a lander

Once you have everything ready, proceed to the next part of this guide.

I. Create a Campaign in Voluum

In the first step, you need to create a campaign in Voluum. This will provide you with a special link, called a campaign URL, that you will submit as a destination link in RTX Platform. In order to create a campaign perform the following steps:

  1. Create an offer element. Read the Add an Offer to Voluum article to learn how to do that.
  2. (Optionally) Create a lander element. Read the Add a Lander Element article to learn more.
  3. Create a traffic source element. Voluum provides you with two RTX Platform traffic source templates, one dedicated for pop or native ads, and the other for push ads. In order to use this template, perform the following steps:

    1. In Voluum, go to Traffic sources.
    2. Click the Create button and select the Traffic source option from the drop-down menu.

    3. Select either the 50onRed / RTX Platform Pops or 50onRed / RTX Platform Push template.
    4. Click the Next button.
    5. You can change or adjust any option in the New traffic source form. Once you have done so, click the Save button.

  4. Create a campaign

    In Voluum, go to Campaigns, click the Create button and select the Campaign Simple or Campaign Advanced option from the drop-down menu.

    1. In the New campaign form, select the RTX Platform traffic source that you have just created from the Traffic source drop-down menu.
    2. Provide a name for the campaign in the Campaign name text field.
    3. Select if you want to track costs manually, and if so, select the cost model and provide the cost value.
    4. Select the Private Workspace that you want this campaign to be assigned to from the Workspace drop-down menu.
    5. Select the lander that you have just created from the Landers drop-down menu.
    6. Select the offer that you have just created from the Offers drop-down menu.
    7. Click the Save button.

    8. Click the Copy button next to the campaign URL to copy it to the clipboard and paste it to any text editing tool.
    9. Click the Done button.

II. Create a Campaign in RTX Platform

In the second step, you need to set up a campaign in RTX Platform. In order to do so, perform the following steps:

  1. In RTX Platform, go to either the Pops or Push campaign type.
  2. Go to the Campaigns type.
  3. Click the New campaign button.

  4. Provide a name for the campaign.
  5. Select if you wish to run a mainstream or adult campaign type.
  6. Select your campaign's category and sub-category.

  7. Provide geo-targeting options
  8. Provide device targeting options.

  9. Provide your bid value.
  10. Set additional scheduling, frequency or budget options, if needed.

  11. This step is optional and should be performed only if you wish to pass information about conversion from Voluum to RTX Platform. Follow the steps below:

    1. In the Revenue tracking section click the Select pixel drop-down menu and select the Create new pixel option.

    2. Provide a name for your pixel
    3. Select the event type.
    4. Click the Save button.

    5. Provide a default conversion value and click the Install your pixel button.

    6. Select the Server to server method.

    7. Click the Copy to clipboard button to copy a traffic source postback URL and paste it to any text editing tool.
    8. Click the Done button.

      You have now obtained the traffic source postback URL. You will submit it to Voluum in the third step of this guide.

  12. Click the Save button to save your campaign.

  13. In the Creatives tab, provide a name for your creative.
  14. Paste the campaign URL that you have copied from Voluum in the Destination URL text field.
  15. Click the Add creative button.

Your creative has been added. Once it is approved, your campaign will run.

III. Submit a Traffic source Postback URL to Voluum

This step provides you with instructions on how to modify and submit a traffic source postback URL to Voluum in order to pass conversions. To do so, perform the following steps:

  1. In Voluum, edit the RTX Platform traffic source that you have created.

    Go to the Traffic source postback URL section and paste the traffic source postback URL that you have copied from RTX platform. It should look like this:

    Replace the <click_id> token at the end of this URL with Voluum's {externalid} token. The modified traffic source postback URL should look like this:

  3. Click the Save button.
