Exoclick as a Traffic Source

Exoclick is one of the largest ad networks in the market, allowing you to display your content in a variety of ad formats. The following article provides instructions on how to set up tracking of their traffic with Voluum.

Integration available: The following document describes the setup for the basic template integration. However, this traffic source can be integrated via a reliable API connection thanks to the Automizer feature. This enables accurate cost tracking, campaign management from the Voluum dashboard and rule creation. If you want to fully integrate this traffic source with Voluum, read the Exoclick Full Integration article first.

Before You Start

There are several things required for running a campaign with Exoclick as a traffic source. So before you proceed with the guide, make sure you have the following:

  • An active Exoclick account
  • An active Voluum account
  • An offer, and optionally, a lander.

Once you have everything ready, you can follow the instructions below.

I. Create a Goal in Exoclick

In the first step, you need to create a goal in Exoclick. The goal is used to describe a concrete conversion type (i.e a purchase, subscription or other).

Voluum Note: By default, Voluum is able to send information about only one type of conversion per campaign to a traffic source platform. But if you track more than one conversion type within one campaign using the Custom Conversions feature in Voluum, you can use multiple postbacks within one Voluum campaign, specific per conversion type. This can be done with the Traffic Source Postback URL specific per Each Event Type feature in Voluum.

In order to create a goal in Exoclick, perform the following steps:

  1. In Exoclick, click the Campaigns drop-down menu and select the Conversion tracking option.
  2. Click the New conversion tracking tag button.

  3. Provide a name for your goal in the Name text field
  4. Click the Create goal button.

  5. Copy the goal ID to the clipboard.

  1. Create an offer element. Read the Add an Offer to Voluum article to learn how to do that.
  2. (Optionally) Create a lander element. Read the Add a Lander Element article to learn more.

    1. In Voluum, go to Traffic sources.
    2. Click the Create button and select the Traffic source option from the drop-down menu.

    3. Select the Exoclick template.
    4. Click the Next button.

    5. http://main.exoclick.com/tag.php?goal=REPLACE&tag={externalid}
      http://main.exoclick.com/tag.php?goal=652b483aeadffafbef8d05a1b01e9a16&tag={externalid}

      In the Passing conversion info to traffic source section there is a template of the URL that allows Voluum to send information about conversions back to Exoclick. It looks like this:

      Replace the word REPLACE with the goal ID that you have copied from Exoclick. Your edited traffic source postback URL should look like this:

    6. Click the Save button.

  4. Create a campaign

    In Voluum, go to Campaigns, click the Create button and select the Campaign Simple or Campaign Advanced option from the drop-down menu.
