Whitelists / Blacklists in Automizer

This Automizer feature allows you to create, edit, and delete lists of dimensions. Dimensions are values passed from a traffic source: publisher name, widget ID and so on. The lists can be than used as a condition in Rules. Use such list to enhance your buying strategy by using traffic from tested publishers only or to stop using traffic from publishers that didn't prove to be profitable.

Overview

Whitelists / Blacklists can be found in the AUTOMIZER view.

Sample Use Cases
  • Stop buying traffic from unprofitable publishers: When your campaign starts buying traffic from a publisher that you know it won't bring you profits, pause the whole dimension and send alert. You can also add subsequent conditions and actions. For example, if a publisher from a blacklist appears in your campaign but your campaign maintains profit, this publisher can be marked with a colorful icon in your reports.

  • Add profitable publishers to the list: Create whitelists automatically by adding publishers that bring you a certain profit to the whitelist. Use this whitelist later as a basis for other action in other campaigns.

How Does It Work?

The lists with dimension values (list of publisher names, widget IDs, etc.) you upload to Voluum can be then used in rules as a condition. You can create two types of conditions with lists:

  • If a given dimension IS on the list

  • If a given dimension IS NOT on the lists

When the rule finds or doesn't find a given dimension on the selected list in a given time frame, it will launch set action or actions.

Where Can You Get a List From?

There are two ways to create a list of proven publishers. First and foremost is that you create such a list on your own, manually, by running campaigns for some time and noting down names of dimensions that work (this will be your whitelist) or don't work (this will be your blacklist).

alternatively, Voluum Automizer offers you the option to automatically add dimensions that meet certain criteria to the list. You can create a list of publishers which ROI is higher than 100% or that brought you over $100 profit in the last 24 hours. In order to do so, follow the steps below:

  1. When creating a rule, select a traffic source and a dimension.

  2. Select the Add to list action and select a list or create a new one.

  3. Set rule conditions.
