  • How to define a source and select an offer in Leadbit.

  • How to configure a postback URL to send information about conversions back to Voluum.

  • How to add a Leadbit offer to Voluum.

Table of Contents

Before you start, there are a couple of things you should have:

  • An active Voluum account

  • An approved Leadbit account

  • A basic knowledge of Voluum. Completing the Getting Started guide is sufficient.

Once you are sure that you are ready, go through the steps below. We recommend that you go over this guide with both Voluum and Leadbit platforms opened in separate tabs. This way you can do the actions you are learning about.

I. Define a Source in Leadbit

In the first step we quickly define the type of source of your traffic. You will later use the source you are about to define while creating a tracking link in Leadbit. In order to add a source, perform the following steps:

  1. In Leadbit, select the Sources option from the menu on the right.

  2. Click the Create new source button.

  3. Select the source type by clicking the icon.

  4. Select what kind of traffic you will advertise your offers in by selecting an appropriate option from the Kind drop-down menu.

  5. Provide a name of your source in the Title text field. You can skip adding a resource URL.

  6. Provide a short description in the Description field.

  7. Click the Save button.

You have defined a traffic source in Leadbit. Now you are ready to choose your offer.

II. Select an Offer and Create a Tracking Link in Leadbit

With the source of your traffic defined, you can find an offer you think will work best for you. If you are not sure which offer that might be, you can always contact Leadbit's support. To select an offer, perform the following steps:

  1. In Leadbit, select the Offers option from the menu on the right.

  2. Select appropriate filtering options from the drop-down menus and click the Apply button.

  3. Once you have located the offer you want, click the Create Tracking URL next to it. You will be directed to the Create flow screen.

  4. In the Create flow screen provide a name of your flow in the Name field.

  5. Select the source you created previously from the Source drop-down menu.

  6. Tick the box next to the landing that you want to use.

  7. You can skip the Traffic settings section as we will define postback globally, not only for this particular flow.

  8. Click the Create flow button at the bottom of the page.

You have created the flow. Now you can get an offer link.

III. Get an Offer Link from Leadbit

An offer link is the URL that you will paste in Voluum to direct visitors to your offer. You can get this link from Leadbit after successfully creating a flow. The link will have to be modified to include Voluum tokens that pass different types of information - mainly, a click ID value. In order to get this link, perform the following steps:

  1. In Leadbit, in the Tracking URLs tab, click the link_icon.png icon. The Get code pop-up will appear.

  2. In the Get code pop-up window you have to provide a Voluum {clickid} token to replace the default sub1 token to complete the parameter.

Parameters are the way servers transfer information between each other. In tracking URLs (campaign URLs, Offer URLs, postback URL and other), after the ? character you can find parameters that consist of parameter_name={token} pair, where:

    • parameter_name is a name that allows a target platform (Leadbit in the case of offer URL) to recognize a type of information that it carries. Leadbit uses sub1sub2sub3sub4, and sub5 parameter names to get information from a source platform (Voluum in this case).

    • {token} is automatically replaced placeholder that, when an HTTP request (such as visitor redirect to an offer in this case) happens, is replaced with a concrete value. To properly track conversions, you need to send a click ID value from Voluum to Leadbit and then receive it back in a postback request from Leadbit when conversions occur. Voluum uses {clickid} token to pass a click ID value.

Apart from the click ID value you can pass additional information, such as traffic source ID, country or placement info. You only need to match Voluum tokens that hold this information with other Leadbit parameter names. The offer link will be automatically updated with provided tokens.

  3. Click the copy_icon.png icon to copy the modified offer URL to the clipboard.

Now you can go to Voluum and paste the offer link there.

IV. Add an Offer to Voluum

To create an offer element in Voluum, perform the following steps:

  1. In Voluum, go to the Offers tab. The Offers view will show up.

  2. Click the New offer button.

  3. In the New offer form provide a name of your offer.

  4. Paste the link from Leadbit that you have copied in the previous section into the Offer URL field. You can delete parameters that you are not going to use. So if you only want to pass a click ID value in the {clickid} token, your offer URL should look like this:

The list of tokens and variables that you can pass in Leadbit's sub tokens is available below the Offer URL. Tokens contain information acquired by Voluum, such as country ({country} token) or device type ({device} token), while variables ({var1}{var2} and other) carry information that was originally passed in traffic source's tokens and then matched with Voluum variables in the traffic source element setup.

  5. After setting up any additional options, click the Save button.

Your offer has been added to Voluum. All that's left to do is configure your postback settings to finalize the setup.

V. Configure a Postback URL

Upon sending a visitor to an offer, the Leadbit platform has to send you the information about a successful conversion. For that, a postback URL will be used. It is a target URL where an affiliate network platform, Leadbit in this case, can report conversions. You can get a postback URL from Voluum.

  • Get a postback URL from Voluum

  1. In Voluum, click the profile_settings.png button. The Settings view will show up.

  2. Go to the Tracking URLs tab.

  3. Click the Copy button to copy a postback URL to the clipboard in the Secure postback URL section.

You can also copy the non-secure postback URL by clicking the Copy button in the Postback URL section, but using non-secure links is not recommended. Read the Enabling SSL for a Dedicated Domain article to learn more.

  • Paste a postback URL on Leadbit's side

Now you need to paste the copied postback URL to the Leadbit global postback configuration window and modify it to account for Leadbit's tokens. In order to do that, perform the following steps:

  1. In Leadbit, navigate to ProfileGlobal Postback option on the menu on the right.

  2. Paste the copied postback URL. It should look like this:

For the minimal setup, you need to replace the word REPLACE next to the cid parameter name with Leadbit's {sub1} token, that you have configured previously to carry the click ID value. If you want to pass information about payout to Voluum (and you have selected the automatic payout model in the offer element setup in Voluum), you need to pass a Leadbit token in the payout  parameter that passes payout information (that would be {cost}). You can also choose to pass a unique conversion identifier that may allow you to track subsequent conversions in the txid parameter name. Read the Upselling: Registering Multiple Conversions per clickid article to learn more.

  3. Tick the boxes next to the all 6 options that refer to different cases where a postback request is sent.

  4. Click the Save button.

You have successfully set everything up. Now you can use the offer you created in Voluum in your campaign funnel and observe the incoming conversions therein.
