Voluum TRK Google Ads Integrations

A conversion is any customer-triggered event that is valuable for you. Conversions occur on an offer owner's side, so you have to set everything up there to pass information about a conversion to Voluum.

Tracking Conversions in Voluum

Analogically to tracking event, Voluum offers two methods of tracking conversions: a redirect and a direct one:

Tracking Conversions in Google Ads

With tracking of Google Ads events already set up, and with information about conversions being passed to Voluum you have all the information you need gathered in one place. However, if you want to pass information about conversion from Voluum to Google Ads, you have to consider the following: Google Ads does not support third party conversion reporting, either via the S2S postback URL or Redirect pixel method directly. Instead it uses a proprietary solution for conversion tracking.

However, it is possible to still report conversions from Voluum to Google Ads. It can be done by:

  • Implementing two pixels (Voluum's and Google's) pixels on a "Thank You" page. This is a recommended option if only you can implement both scripts on your page. Read the Track Conversions Using a Conversion Tracking Pixel to learn more.

  • Create a pixel redirect URL that mimics the behavior of their proprietary solution of conversion reporting.

Voluum Note: In order to report conversions back to Google using this method, make sure that you use a conversion tracking pixel to report conversions to Voluum from your affiliate network. Using S2S postback URL to report conversions will not generate a cookie with a click ID value that is needed by the Voluum redirect pixel.

In order to use the second method, perform the following steps:

  1. In Google Ads, click the Tools button.

  2. Select the Conversions option.

  3. Click the add_conversion.png button to add a new conversion action.

  4. Select a type of conversion.

  5. Provide all required information about a conversion action in the Create an action view and click the Create and continue button.

  6. In the Set up the tag view select the Use Google Tag Manager option:

Voluum Info: Google Tag Manager is a platform that manages various tracking scripts. Instead of implementing Google Ads conversion tags on your web page, you implement Google Tag Manager's scripts and set up Google Ads conversion tag in the Google Tag Manager platform. Setting up a Google Ads conversion Tag is easy and requires only submitting a conversion ID and conversion label (both are displayed after selecting the Use Google Tag Manager option) to the Google Tag Manager platform. You can use this platform to manage other tracking scripts, including Voluum's conversion tracking pixel. Read the Google Tag Manager and Voluum article to learn more.

Using Google Tag Manager is a good solution only if you have an option to edit your offer's web page. If an offer is supplied by an affiliate network, you will not have this option.

  7. Copy the conversion ID and conversion label values to any text editing tool.

  8. Copy the following link to the same tool:

  9. Create a pixel redirect URL link by adding the conversion label and the conversion ID to this link, separated by a forward slash.

Your final URL should look like this:

  10. In Voluum, edit the Google Ads traffic source element.

  11. Paste the created link into the Pixel Redirect URL text field.

  12. Click the Save button.

You have successfully configured reporting conversions to Google Ads.
