Setting up a Native Campaign - Part 2: Targeting

This part of the guide shows you next step of the native campaign configuration. To perform the actions listed below, you need to finish all mandatory steps from the first section of campaign creation.

The TARGETING tab offers you several options to target specific audiences with your campaign.

  1. Go to the GEO TARGETING section and select a country or countries in the Country selection menu that you want your campaign to be aimed for. We recommend targeting one country per campaign.

    Voluum DSP Note: The state, region or city targeting options are available only when you select one country to target.

  2. (Optional) Click the States / regions / cities option to reveal more targeting options. They allow you to target your audience on a more granular level and can be used only if you choose only one country from the field above.

  3. Scroll down to the INVENTORY TARGETING and click the Add ad exchanges button. A new menu will appear. You are able to see more details about each ad exchange including its Auction type, Traffic type, GEOs with highest amounts of traffic as well as the best performing verticals. Navigate easily by using the Search field at the top left corner. Type any specific request such as a GEO or vertical, a selection of ad exchanges that meet your requirements will be grouped for you. Click the Save changes button after selecting a necessary ad exchange.

    Caution

    Voluum DSP Note: We recommend targeting one single ad exchange per campaign. If you choose several ad exchanges in one campaign you can enable the One campaign for each selected ad exchange toggle and the system will create separate campaigns per ad exchange for you.

  4. Select the source type by selecting the Source type radio button that you want to buy your traffic from. You can select between All, In-app or Web traffic types.

  5. Placement control allows you to use Whitelist or Blacklist of placements.

  6. Click the Show more inventory settings to see more options there. Retargeting option in the DSP allows you to display ads to the audience who already engaged with your campaigns: viewed the ad, visited the landing page or converted.

  7. In the Create new retargeting list menu select which kind of users you want to retarget: viewers, visitors or converters from this campaign.

  8. In the Add or use existing retargeting list menu select the list you want to use for this campaign from the previously generated lists. For more information read here.

  9. In the IP addresses text field you can place the single IP addresses or the IP ranges you’d like to target E.g. 189.24.51.53 or 189.24.51.53/24. You can provide an individual address and confirm it with the Enter key as well as paste the string of addresses separated by commas.

  10. Deal ID is a unique number of an automated ad buy. It is used to match advertisers and publisher in Private Market Place, based on criteria negotiated beforehand (bid, type of ad units, a section of the site, etc.). Ask your dedicated account manager for more information.

  11. Scroll down to the Device targeting section and select a specific device to target within your campaign.

    Caution

    Voluum DSP Note: We recommend creating separate campaigns for each device type. Hence, if you plan to target all devices, select them all and use the toggle below and the system will create for you three campaigns, one per each device.

  12. You can limit your targeting to specific operating systems and connection types by selecting the desired option from the Operating system selection menu, the Connection type radio button as well as choosing a specific mobile carrier if you click the Show more device settings option.

  13. In the OPTIMIZATION section, define Auto Rules. They can pause certain elements of your campaign if your campaign meets the criteria defined by you in the conditions section. Create a new auto-rule or choose a previously created one from a drop-down menu. For more information on how to create an auto-rule please read the (Beta Version) Auto-Rules article.

  14. The Auto-optimization feature is a machine learning algorithm that automatically optimizes your campaign towards a specified performance model (iCTR, CPV,  CPC or CPA). For more information read the Auto-Optimization article.

  15. Click the Next button to go to the BUDGET tab.
