Pass Information to a Landing Page

Voluum TRK TRK Campaign Funnel Landing page

In most campaign setups and campaign funnels there is no need to pass any information from Voluum to a landing page. Landing page is yours so there is no one to share your data with, not like with cases of passing information to an affiliate network platform or back to a traffic source. However, there are some rare case scenarios when you might want to pass additional information to a landing page in a lander URL.

This additional information use parameters added to a lander URL, which then are passed in a lander URL after user is redirected from Voluum to a landing page. To learn how passing information works in general, read the How Information is Passed article.

Case 1: Passing Information about a Domain

You want to use the same lander in campaigns using different domains. To make the click tracking work, the domain used in a click URL on the landing page that redirects to an offer needs to match the domain used within the campaign URL. This can be achieved by using the domain  parameter that passes the {trackingdomain} token, and then subsequently it is read by a piece of code that you implement on your landing page. This code block build a click URL with a proper domain name, that it fetches fro this parameter.

In order to do this, you need to:

  1. Add the domain parameter with the {trackingdomain} token to a lander URL like in an example below:

    http://lander_url.com/?domain={trackingdomain}

    Voluum will automaitaclly replace the token with a domain name.

  2. Paste a code block on your landing page that fetches a domain name from the {trackingdomain} token and dynamically build the click URL. The piece of code that you need to add to your landing page is provided in the Adding Click URLs on a Landing Page Used in Different Funnels article.

Case 2: Displaying Dynamic Content on a Landing Page

You can use Voluum parameters that hold visit characteristics and use them to display personalized messages to a visitor on a landing page. For example, if Voluum detected, based on visitor's user agent, that this visitor device type is iPhone, then by passing an appropriate device parameter in a lander URL and implementing a simple script on a landing page you can show a more relevant a message to a visitor, like "Click here, iPhone user!".

To learn more, read the Displaying Voluum Parameters on a Landing Page (Dynamic Call-Outs) article.
