Namecheap: Setting up a Custom Domain
In order to use a custom domain for tracking from the Namecheap provider you need to, first of all, purchase it and then, secondly, configure it according to instructions below.
I. Configure a Custom Domain on Namecheap Side
The following section described how to set up the redirection from your custom domain ("track.mydomain.com" in this example) to the Voluum Dedicated Domain. To do so, perform the following steps:
Purchase your domain from https://www.namecheap.com/ and sign in to your account.
Select the Domain List from the menu on the left.
Click the
button next to your domain.Go to the Advanced DNS tab.
Go to the Host records section.
Click the
button.Select the CNAME from the Type drop-down menu.
In the Host field provide your subdomain name, "track" in this example.
Copy the address of your Dedicated Domain from the Domains tab in Voluum and provide it into the Value field.
Caution
Voluum Note: All domains assigned to your account you can find in the Domains tab in Voluum. If the Dedicated Domain is already available on your account, you need to point to the Dedicated Domain. Otherwise, you should provide a name of one of the Voluum legacy domains.
Select the minimum TTL (Time To Live, i.e. time to propagate all changes through the network) from the drop-down menu for faster DNS propagation.
Your new CNAME record for the custom subdomain should point to the Voluum dedicated domain.
II. Set up the Custom Domain in Voluum
To do so, perform the following steps:
Add a custom domain.
In Voluum, click the
button to go to the Settings page.Go to the Domains tab. You will see all the Voluum domains assigned to your account.
Click the Add custom domain button.
Make sure that you have followed the instructions and click the Next button.
Provide the name of your custom subdomain, for example track.mydomain.com.
(Optional) Select a Private Workspace that this domain will be assigned to or leave it blank to keep this domain in the Public Workspace.
Click the Verify & save button.
Once the domain's settings are fully propagated, the
icon will show up in the domain's field.
Set a custom domain as your main domain.
Go to the above Main domain section. Select the custom subdomain from the drop-down menu.
Note
Voluum Info: The main domain is used as a domain while generating campaign, click, and tracking pixel URLs. In one campaign funnel all those URLs need to be set with the same domain. Once you have selected the domain from the drop-down menu, the domain name will be automatically set up in all campaigns, click, tracking pixel URLs in the Voluum platform.
Click the Save button. You have added the custom domain to Voluum.

To run high-volume campaigns, it is highly recommended that you set up and use a custom tracking domain in Voluum. While doing so, you need to set a CNAME record for your custom subdomain pointing to one of your legacy domains or, if only available, to your unique Voluum Dedicated Domain.
Following the CNAME configuration for your subdomain and after adding your custom domain to your Voluum account, it's possible that you will be returned with the following response after verifying the domain's DNS settings:
If you have set up a new domain make sure to wait 2-20 hours to fully propagate Domain Name System (DNS).
If you are setting a CNAME record on an older domain, keep an eye out for the Time to Live (TTL) setting; by default, the TTL setting is set to 14400 seconds which is 4 hours. It means that your subdomain and CNAME may take that long to propagate. You can shorten this by modifying the TTL number for your CNAME record.
If the Dedicated Domain is assigned to your Voluum account, double-check the domain configuration on the registrar's side: the custom domain should point to the Voluum Dedicated Domain
