Getting Started with Voluum DSP - Step 3: Defining a Traffic Flow

Once you decide what kind of campaign you want to run, you need to define native advertising traffic flow. You have two options to consider:

  • Destination URL: This option is available in the campaign creation form. It allows you to direct all traffic to the URL with your offer.

  • Flow: The flow is an element in Voluum that allows you to direct your traffic towards a landing page and then to an offer.

For the purpose of this guide, a flow will be created. Using a flow instead of a destination URL allows you to use landing pages and more sophisticated traffic retargeting options. You can learn about those additional possibilities in a separate article, which will be provided at the end of this guide.

Table of Contents
I. Provide General Information

First of all, you need to provide basic information about the flow you want to define in the Voluum platform. To do so, perform the steps:

  1. In Voluum, go to Flows. The Flows view will show up.

  2. Click the New flow button. The New flow form will show up.

  3. Provide a unique name for your flow. The flow name is based on the following pattern: {country_label or Global} - {your_unique_custom_name}.

  4. If you want the flow to be geo-specific, select the Country from the drop-down menu. Keep in mind that country selection does not mean that the traffic will be directed to the selected geo, geo tag only serves for organizational purposes.

Voluum Note: This option determines which landers and offers will be available to select from the drop-down menu within a path setup. If you select one country, for example United States, all the landers and offers with the United States and Global country label will be displayed during selection.

  5. Leave the default option in the Default redirect mode section for the global setup of the flow.

II. Add a Default Path

Now, you need to create a default path that will direct visitors to a lander and an offer. You will have a chance of adding them later on.

  1. In the Default paths section, click the New path option. The path's details will show up on the right-hand side.

  2. Provide a name in the Path name field.

III. Add a Lander

A lander is an optional element in Voluum that allows you to use a landing page in your campaign funnel. If you do not want to use a landing page, you can select a Direct linking option and skip to the next part of the following article.

IV. Add an Offer
V. Save the Flow

Once you have added one default path, you can save the flow. Click the Save button to do so. Next, you can use this flow while creating a DSP campaign. You need to keep in mind that when you use the flow in many campaigns and make changes in the flow, those changes affect all campaigns that this flow is used in.
