Affiliate Network: Options

Voluum TRK TRK Campaign Funnel Grouping

While adding an affiliate network you can choose several optional settings available in the setup. Below you can find an overview of each option:

Append click ID to offer URLs

This option is intended to save time when adding offer URLs to offer elements created in Voluum. This mainly applies to networks supplying offers with a dedicated parameter for tracking click IDs already mapped to the end of the offer URL.

With this option enabled, all offers created and grouped with the related affiliate network have Voluum’s click ID automatically passed in the offer URL and appended at the end of it.

Keep in mind that you need to pay attention how your offer URL is configured while using this option. If you select one of the defined affiliate networks in the offer's setup and use the defined {clickid} token in the offer URL, the click ID value will be always appended at the end of the offer URL.

Accept duplicate postbacks

By default, Voluum will not accept a duplicate postback request, if another postback request with the same click ID value was previously registered without a unique transaction ID (txid). This avoids registering duplicate postback requests as unique conversions and therefore skewing your reporting.

Setting up the Accept duplicate postbacks option will override the default setting for offers with this affiliate network selected and, as a result, postback URLs with the same click ID and empty txid will not be discarded as a duplicate.

It is not recommended to use the Accept duplicate postbacks option unless you are sure your affiliate network platform processes outbound postback requests reliably. This is because some requests might be sent twice simultaneously what be registered in Voluum as two conversions. It particularly happens when you use client-side postbacks (conversion tracking pixels).

  • If a campaign funnel has multiple sequential conversion steps commonly known as upsells, it is better to assign a unique txid value to each unique postback applied for each step than use the Accept duplicate postbacks option. For more information on upsells, go to the Upselling: Registering Multiple Conversions per clickid article.

Only accept postbacks from whitelisted IPs

With the toggle turned on, you can whitelist a selection of IPs for inbound postback requests. Any inbound postback requests originating from IPs that are not whitelisted will be discarded by Voluum. You can either provide a single IP address or define a range of IP addresses per line. If you want to whitelist the IP block, you should use the CIDR notation; otherwise, the range could not be accepted while saving the affiliate network's form. It means that the IP range: 198.51.100.0-198.51.100.255,  should be entered as follows: 198.51.100.0/24. If you need some help with defining the IP block in CIDR notation, you can try one of the free IP calculators available on the Internet (for example, http://www.subnet-calculator.com/cidr.php).

Tip

Voluum Tip: The IPs used for outbound postback requests on the affiliate network platform side can usually be provided by your Affiliate Account Manager. It should be public IP / IP range of the affiliate network's server that sends the inbound requests.

Setup

To add a list of IPs, enter a single IP or IP range in CIDR notation per line.
